About client

CIC News, as a part of The CanadaVisa Ecosystem, was born in 1996 and has become the world’s largest Canadian immigration news website. Since launching, CIC News has become the industry leader in breaking news updates, insights, and analysis on Canada’s top immigration issues. The average monthly traffic on the website in 2022- 2023 is >1.5 million unique visitors.

Project goal

Considering the UX as a vital part of the business growth strategy, the CIC team’s goal was to rethink and enhance the old CIC News website design version to drive better engagement and increase technical performance for the best customer experience and index.

Process explained

  1. As our team practices a data-driven, human-centered design approach, we start our work with a UX audit and collect critical performance and user engagement metrics. Based on the results, together with the customer, we set goals for each KPI that we will achieve within the project.
  2. The News website has its own User Experience and UI specifics, so our team intensely studied best industry practices to deliver the best outcome. User engagement, cross-linking, search optimization, call-to-actions, and ad placement. At the same time, a website should be fast and responsive. All nuances are important.
  3. Based on our UX and technical audit results, best industry practices, and in-depth user interviews, we start by rethinking the new website’s information architecture. Through iterative prototyping and co-creation sessions with the customer team, we design new concepts.
  4. The next stage was the development. The main challenge was transferring all existing content to a new site and checking cross-links, CTA, and Ad’ spots. As well as to ensure that we achieve top page speed. Our dev team reviews and removes old and unnecessary plugins, develops a few custom solutions, and optimizes the admin panel to give maximum flexibility to the customer.
  5. Deliverables:
    – we increase site performance 2.5 times, achieved google performance score – of 99/100
    – exceed all metrics like engagement & conversions ( details under NDA)
